Children need good dental care in order for their teeth and gums to develop properly. Medicaid covers many dental services, however, it can be tricky to figure out what services are covered and what aren’t.

As of October 2010, about 38% of eligible children received Medicaid-covered dental service. This means that there is still a large portion of kids not getting the dental care they need.
That’s why it is important for many parents to find dentists who take Medicaid for their kids’ dental treatments.
Currently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is working with government partners, dentists, and other groups to make sure more children have access to dental care under Medicaid and other programs.
Under Medicaid, your child has access to the following dental services, at minimum:
