Kool Smiles Named Among 2009 InfoWorld 100

Kool Smiles received top honors for its Thin-Client EHR Initiative, with national recognition as one of InfoWorld´s Top 100 IT Projects of 2009. Led by Chief Technical Architect, Mark Blomquist, Kool Smiles built a Wyse-based thin-client infrastructure to support the electronic health records systems at 13 new dental offices across the United States. With this roll-out now complete, Kool Smiles has implemented electronic health records across its entire network of providers in 15 states.

Every year, the InfoWorld 100 Awards celebrate 100 IT organizations that have implemented and integrated technologies in innovative ways in pursuit of concrete business goals, wrote InfoWorld´s Jason Snyder about the annual awards listing. These 100 real-world projects stand as proof that striking a new path in IT can reap deep organizational rewards.

This designation helps substantiate our investment in smart, innovative, health technology in our pursuit to provide quality oral health care to patients in underserved communities nationwide, said Dr. David Strange, Chief Dental Officer of Kool Smiles.

Kool Smiles was one of only a handful of winners in the health care category, which also included the University of Chicago Medical Center, Seattle Children´s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, and Varian Medical Systems. Kool Smiles is also joined by leading organizations from other business and public service sectors, including Accenture, Booz Allen Hamilton, Harvard Medical School, the U.S. Army, and Wells Fargo.
