Kool Smiles Kids Club’s partner dentists accept Medicaid, TRICARE, CHIP (formerly SCHIP), and most major insurance plans.
Every insurance plan is different. A low-cost plan will likely only cover the basics, like routine exams, cleaning, and x-rays with a general dentist. A policy with higher premiums may cover more advanced or intensive procedures, as well as appointments with specialist dentists.
A Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DMHO) is a prepaid insurance plan where you choose your child’s dental health provider, and you bring your child to the same provider every time he or she needs dental care. A DMHO doesn’t have a deductible, and it doesn’t limit maximum yearly coverage. With a DMHO, you’ll pay a fixed fee for each type of service. This type of insurance plan can cost as little as $5 to $15 per month.
With a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), there’s a network of preferred providers, but there’s also flexibility. With a PPO, you can see a dentist outside of the network. Generally, the coverage is greater if you see a provider within the network. A PPO has a deductible, so you’ll have to pay part of the cost out-of-pocket. PPOs also have set yearly coverage maximums.
