Really Bad Toothache | 8 Home Remedies

Is your child experiencing severe toothache? It is always best to seek professional attention or visit the dental office immediately, but this may not always be possible. There are a few things that you can do at home to help control or minimize the pain till you can visit the dentist.
Some home remedies that have shown promising results include:

Eight Simple Remedies for Toothaches

Salt water Or Saline Rinses—Dissolve some salt in a glass of warm water, and have your child rinse his/her mouth and gargle with it. This is especially useful if the toothache is accompanied with swelling and helps provide relief when used at least 5-8 times a day.

Natural/ Organic Extracts—Peppermint, lemon and almond extracts can be used to minimize dental pain. Simply take a few drops on a cotton ball and hold it against the affected teeth for a few minutes. This can be done multiple times during the day for best results.

Tea bag—Make a cup of tea using a teabag, and once the bag can cooled down, have your child place it in his/her mouth, near the aching tooth. Tea leaves often have a soothing, numbing effect and can provide temporary relief.

Ice pack—Take a few ice cubes, an icepack, or a bag of frozen vegetables, cover it with a cover and hold it against the side of your child’s mouth that hurts. Cold compression can relief swelling and provide temporary relief.

Cayenne pepper—A paste made using water and cayenne pepper, when applied to the aching tooth, can temporarily and effectively reduce the pain.

Garlic—Garlic has numerous beneficial effects for overall health. For sore teeth and gums, simply grind a clove of garlic and apply it to the affected area for relief.

Leaves and roots—Chewing on plantain leaves and ginger roots has also shown promising results in curbing dental pain.
